2x 400W enough for Crocea?

Hi. I just bought a beautiful 4" Crocea clam. I would like to provide the best care for this creature. I have a 90 gallon tank that is 22" deep and my halides are 13" off the water. I am running dual 400W XM 15K lamps over the tank on a staggered photo period with each lamp on for 6 hours and a total photo period of 8 hours. The clam in situated in the lower front corner of the tank with it's foot on a rock about 2" off the bottom. I have it's mantle pointed towards the center of the two lights which also provides a great viewing angle for the intense blue and purple colors. During the day the clam fully extends it's mantle.

Will this position be ok for the clam?
Is the lighting strong enough?
Is the photo period long enough?

Thanks.

The 400watt bulbs are great, but due to the bulbs, it might not be enough for the clam. XM15k bulbs have some of the worst PAR out there. You may want to switch to a 14k bulb or the Coralvue Reeflux 12k, for simlar color, but 2-3 times the PAR!

You should be fine. However I personally would lower the lights to about 8 inches from the surface if possible. I would also move the crocea higher up in the rocks. I have had a crocea for the last 2 years in my 55 under 2 250w halides. The top of his mantle is about 4-5 inches from the surface, and my lights are 8 inches above the water. So the distance between light to clam is about 13". With 400w lights you can safely have your clam further from your lights than this, but I would not recommend much over 20" or so. HTH
