2xMP10, MP20, or MP40?

2 40 Breeders going up. One will be a Seahorse tank with Gorgonians, Mushrooms, Zoas, and Ricordea. The other will be a LPS dominated tank with Mushrooms, Zoas, Ricordea, and a Rainbow BTA(its still a baby, maybe the size of a half dollar).

What would be best for flow for these setups with the pumps listed?

they dont make the mp20 anymore as far as i know. 2 mp10 should be plenty

That is correct, the MP20s are on eBay. Only thing shying me away from that purchase is if something breaks they may not be able to fix it.

So you say 2 MP10s per tank?

I prefer more smaller pumps over one larger to randomize the flow. Even when using the different programs on a MP40 like reefcrest, the flow will still always be coming from the same direction.

I see what you mean. I could supplement with a nano PH. Was also thinking the return from my Skimmer and Refuge could do the trick.

I can say from experience that you will like the options of 2 pumps. I started with 1 Mp10, went to 1 Mp40, then 2 Mp10's, then 2 Mp40's, and am finally back around to going with 2 Mp10's on my 40 breeder. Mp10's provide a ton of flow for their small size but they lack on tanks that are 36" and longer in my opinion. With 1 on each end you get all the flow you need and don't have to turn them up super high.

I vote mp10's.. I wish they would start to make the mp20's again.. Some people have tanks on the smaller side that are rimless, that the glass is to thick for mp10's. I'd buy 2 mp20's if I could find them

I have 2 mp10's on my 40 gallon and including the flow from the return pump I am happy. The mp10's are only about 50% power setting. I think seahorses prefer lower flow so you might only need 1 mp10 for that tank.

They do like low flow but they also play in higher flow. So a medium turbulent force is what I am aiming for. I am currently thinking of doing 1 MP10 on each tank and then maybe a another PH on the opposite side. I have a Koralia 850 in there now and it is blowing the sand around so I think I would need one smaller.
