Hi, i was wondering, is a 10gallon tank good enough for a 3-4in Peacock mantis shrimp until it reaches its adult size?
Can anyone give any helpful tips on when i should move it to a bigger tank and how much gallons it should be atleast?

I had a 2.5 inch peacock in a 10 for about a month, she is now in a 30 breeder and I think she is much happier. IMO a 3-4 inch one should be in at least a 20 gallon. Even though mine is not full grown, she uses the entire tank and it is very interesting to see all her burrows (I went natural, so DSB and lots of rubble instead of PVC pipe).

i had a 2 1/2 - 3in peacock in a 10g tank for a few months until i got the bigger tank ready. but i wouldnt recomend keeping it in a tank any smaller then a 20g. theyu are just much happier in the bigger tanks.

The only benefit of having a smaller tank, from what I've been told, is being able to see/enjoy your mantis. This, however, neglects how happy the mantis is...

most people will recommend a 30g minimum for an O.s. footprint is the most important aspect as far as territory is concerned for this benthic animal, but the height contributes to sheer volume. mantids are messy eaters and a good sized O.s will mess up a 10g fast. that's why the 30 is a minimum.
