3 clowns in one tank

I picked up a pair of black clowns last nite. I had one per. clown in my tank previously. Will they be able to get along or do I need to get rid of one of them. I would like to keep them if at all possible.

Unless you have a HUGE tank, I see you ended up with just a pair of clowns --- even if you don't pull the current one out.

I have 3 in my 135g, started out with 6. In my case there was a mated pair already in the tank so maybe with yours being a single clown it might go smoother. In my case, two ended up jumping, I believe due to agression, one I removed and the last somehow made it and is now accepted among the pre-existing mated pair. It tooks months for this to happen. I would suggest that it can be done, though, it is an obvious risk, as demonstrated, nature *will* take it's course regardless of our plans.

If you have a large tank, 125 and up, then they normally keep their distance. If it is smaller then the single one will always be on the look out for a possible beating from the the other two ganging up on it. You would be better off finding it a new home.
