I have my tank running steady from a water chemistry point of view but am still wondering if i should add some more light.. My tank is a standard 75 with two separate rock formations on each side. On one side I have one led over the rock formation that contains all soft corals and polyps . The other formation I have 3 sps but no acro's . I did grow a colony from a small frag and all three sps are growing. I'm asking this question because I got bored and ordered some coral frags online and want to make sure they won't bleach out or die.

The corals are as followed:

Key lime across
Green bird nest
Blue vermmiculata
Neon green sarmentosa
UC red monti cap

Should I be worried and should I place all of them very high? They will all go on the rock formation with two led's over it. Thanks!

I have RS 450 tank with mixed corals but transitioning to full SPS. I was running 4 kessils and I can tell you that I have had my share of battles. At first, the Kessil seems very bright. I had them set to ramp up for 3 hours then full 90% strength and 90% on color. I have played with these settings from 14% to 100%. I would buy an acro and STN would occur. This happened for several months. Keep in mind I am on the full KZ line with all extra additives. I run 2 maxspect gyre 130's for flow. Chiller keeps water cold and I also have all the apex gadgets, but for the life of me I could not keep acro's alive for longer then a few weeks. Tank is about 7 months old and hitting its KZ prime age. For months I questioned what is wrong; to the point I was doing 20 to 30% water changes instead of common 10, because I thought maybe Po4 was high. Finally I built my own canopy and found some T5's. I know this a tried and proven method for lighting along with MH. I decided to give it a go...... Removed 4 kessils and I installed 6 t5's, 2 kessils on the side for sunrise and sunset, and Apex LSM.

Point: After almost of a year questioning my methods, I concluded that Kessil is a beautiful design and nothing beats the shimmer besides MH. BUT, they do not meet the requirements for SPS. Yes, some SPS will not die, but thats usually the easier SPS. If you do keep the kessils; I would advise to place it "slowly" up to the highest point and not directly under the center beam of light.

DMChris, Kessils by far meet the requirements for SPS. I've seen beyond several dominated SPS tank ran by Kessil.

However, running three Kessil 150's over a 75 will not cut it. I run one over my fuge and the par is just not there.

If I were to run Kessil over a 75, minimum would be Kessil 350 x2. Preferred Kessil 360's or if its in the budget, Kessil AP700 would be perfect.

But unfortunately, Kessil 150's will not give you the power you need for SPS in that size tank.
