I've always had a 55 or 75 so I'm used to a 4ft tank. Now that I'm stuck with 18x22 (I think) I'm not sure what to use as a good eye catching swimmer. I'm a huge fan of all the bristle tooth tangs but know they are out of the question with such little space. Anthias also get a little too large for this tank. What's a good active swimmer? I would like to avoid pod eaters and try for a few herbivores to help keep things clean. I plan on a lot of coral so veggie grazers would be ideal. I have a 20g fuge that's really mature and already bristling with pods so I would like to try a mandarin but would need to keep a close eye on its belly. I know they have tricky diets but I've had great success with them in the past due to my large overgrown refugiums. I'm also not afraid to order pods periodically to keep them stocked. I'm not too keen on angels due to picking on corals but I think a flame might be in order this time around.

I think for a nano like that you would want a fish with a lot of personality like a tail spot blenny, a pair of e.oceanops, clowns obviously. But if you want a fish like a tang that is always swimming I think that you should grab a small flame angel or coral beauty.

I would stay away from the angels with the corals. Midas Blenny would be my choice. GREAT personality, and get to be a bright yellow/orange when they're older. Mine was always swimming around and then would go perch on a rock and look out when he got tired or scared. I had two clowns in a 46 with him and he got picked on a bit by the clowns. I'd get him first if you can, and add the clowns later after he is established.
