30 gal. rimless tank build......

So its been about 7-8 years since I set up my last tank per say. That tank (120 gal.) since has been taken down and not messed with. I will get it up and running again soon, I hope... :) In the mean time, thought I'd set up a smaller tank. (30 gal. rimless.) I know a lot has changed in the 8 years since I was serious about setting up a tank, so please bare with me and I do appreciate any suggestions offered during my build. This will be my first tank build that I will share as it progresses. As for what my plans are for this small tank, I have not really thought about it too much. Going to go with the flow and see what happens. ;) I know pics are a big deal when it comes to tank builds. I will get some more up asap. :lol2:

After getting the tank and stand home, I noticed how low the stand sits. Not sure how you guys/gals feel about a low sitting tank, but I personally hate having to bend over to look at my tanks. (It may be due to my age.. *LOL*) I will first build a 13" platform for the tank/stand to sit on. Also having a Refugium under the stand on smaller tanks in the past was a bit of a mess. All the hinges rusted up and it was terrible. I will put the Refugium on the outside of the stand next to the tank. Not sure how this will look/work out. Here is the platform/stand as its a work in progress. I will finish up today I hope. By no means do I claim to be a carpenter. I will say that I'm enjoying going to the tool stores to buy tools to build this stand. This is my first attempt at building something that is classified as furniture. I've already had a suggestion from my 6 years old daughter. She stated that the stand needed to look more nautical. I looked at her and asked where did she learn that word and she told me she learned it on one of her shows, The Octonauts..... Go figure... ;)

Platform/stand complete. Now off to cut some glass to build the walls for the Aquapod 12 gal tank that will be used for the refugium. That will be it for tonight. Tomorrows task is to make/build some type of hanging device/bracket that looks somewhat nice over a rimless tank for the LED fixture.......

rfalvey89.... Thanks.

I guess I could post a picture of the tank I'm working with.... ;)

Added the cut glass to the 12 gallon Aquapod that will be used as a refugium.

Took some 3/4" EMT and had a couple bends put in it. LED bracket done. :)

Mounting clips for the EMT rod.

Testing the hanging of the LED fixture. The LED fixture is a Evergrow It2040. So far so good. Now to paint the pipe.

yeah , had the exact same tank & then KoddyVT bought it. It was in my kitchen. word of caution* that overflow splashes saltwater everywhere.... ended up using primer, paint etc to repair the saltcreep it left... I did love that thing though
