30 gallon Cube

Hey everyone, I have a friend new to the hobby and I am helping him setup his first reef tank.

It is going to be a Black frame Oceanic 30 gallon cube tank. (20.5 x 18.5 x 21.5)

The plan is for a retrofit MH light built into a canopy over top but we are having trouble locating a canopy for a 30 gallon cube. Anyone know of a canopy for a 30 gallon cube that is available or is this going to be a DIY canopy?

If DIY canopy if anyone with some carpentry skills would like a chance to earn some cash on the side and build a small canopy with flip up or out access lid for a 30 cube PM me and estimated costs... Would be interested. Thanks everyone.

OK, a Hamilton (complete set-up) measures 16.5X 10X 3.5 on my nano! its a 150W with a Ushio 20K.
the tank is 21" tall (25GT) and it works great for my 8 diff. SPS to the Plate coral on the bottom glass, tons of different Zoas, 2 Encino, Key West Pink Anemone (max out 5-6") brilliant Sun Coral, tons of different shrooms, purple-green candy canes X 3 colonies, and all doing exceptionally well..

Thanks for the info Reefnet...

So you built a DIY Acrylic canopy? or did you build an acrylic fixture to mount your MH Light above the tank...? 8 inches off the water is exactly what I am looking for.

We're having a similar problem, I have the 42 gal Oceanic cube from before they were aligned with AGA, I guess they phased it out because I can't find a stock stand or canopy anywhere.....and scott doesn't like my Entertainment Center turned stand (too much light pollution from lack of canopy)

Good Luck to you

TJ, Doing good thanks... The only one that has not opened up all the way is the single polyp yellow. I think it is starting to open up will watch it the next couple of days...

The other three are all open and looking good.

Measured the tank to be sure it is actually (24½ x 18½ x 21 ½) so it is the 37 gallon cube. Pm's sent. Thanks guys.

Craig, I have a wood shop accross the street from Harvist Hills. My parents live there. I have the wood shop in their basement. If you still want a canopy built, we could work something out.
