30 gallon lighting

just wondering if you guys think that a 400w is too much for a 30 gallon tank. i know heat will be an issue and i have a chiller already on another tank.

depends on what your putting in your tank, but it sounds like a little overkill. thats 13.33 watts per gallon, it would really limit what corals you could put in there as you would no part of that tank that by any stretch would be low-moderate light.

I wouldn't think you would need over a 250max. A 400w is overkill imo, even if all your going to keep is sps. Unless you hang it 20" above the tank lol!
