300 Gal Starfire build.

Hello all! Well, after hiding in the shadows I am finally going to attempt my own build thread. I have a custom built 3 sided starfire built and waiting for me. 2 days after ordering it my wife informed me that we are selling and moving to a new house as she is sick of the neighbors dog waking us every day. *(We live in the country, and there are no laws or bylaws that can help with that.) SO, I now have some time to wait and purchase the things I need as I go. Let me be clear, I am jumping blind. I have had a few FW tanks when I was younger, but never a Marine. Other then knowing that this is something I am prepared to spend as much time as I have to so my inhabitants are healthy and happy, including research time and maintenance. I have a fantastic LFS, and have become friends with the owner, so I do get great advice from him. *PM for a link to his site, as I don't think I can post it here. No affiliation, just happy with my service. I would like the collective advice of you all though! I will post pic's of things as I get them, so far tank has showed up, and skimmer is in.

The tank which thankfully I was able to keep in storage at LFS until I build or find a place. The dimensions are 72x36x27. 72" left to right, 36" front to back, and 27" Deep to be sure.

The tank was made by Miracles Aquarium in Orangeville Ontario. The design of it was a combination of my LFS owner and friend, and the folks at Miracles, with some input from me. What do you think of the layout so far? Any advice from anyone with regards to sumps and the fish room? I am really impressed with "umm, fish?" and his fish room, with multiple 90 gal tanks for total system volume and lots of 'play' tanks. For that matter, "umm, fish?" may have one of the nicest total systems I have seen! *If your reading here, as I said in your forum, WOW! I am completely open to all suggestions, and would love advice and criticism from all willing to provide it!

Sorry for the delay, but I will probably go with a mixture of T5 and MH. I would love to say LED, but until the payback is reasonable it isn't worth it.

I am not sold on that yet, Ice cap's look nice, any recommendations. I have complete freedom to use what I want, as I can build this from the bottom up. Don't want to say money is no object, as I won't waste money just to have the newest thing, but I will consider any option.

Go with the Lumenmax Elite reflectors. I've got 2 for my 150 build I'm doing and they're awesome. You could easily fit 4 and still have room for T5's. This former Mississaugan will tag along.

They don't have much spread, his tank is 36" wide.

Oh. Never really thought about the width of the tank only the depth as I thought they did very well penetrating the water depth of this size tank.

Hmmm, having a tough one with this, are there any other suggestions? Ricky, would you have a recommendation for a reflector that would have better spread with similar penetration?

Very nice tank dimensions! Seems like perfect dimensions for a 6 foot tank. Can you please post some more pics? Thx
