300 Gal Tank and Floor underneath it.

Sorry I was away from the computer for the weekend

Your plan is good.
I would dig the cement pads down.
But if the ground was compacted than you are fine.
Your project is looking good, so keep us posted :)

Oh yeah, looking back at those pics, I would remove all the carpet underneath that plywood. Make sure to keep the piece you remove and then you can patch it back in if you ever move. If you dont, that carpet is toast anyway. That spot will never come back up even close to the other carpet's height.

Just my two cents. I hope you havent filled the tank with water yet. :D

Here is the stand minus tank

I will ask my favorite flooring people Cary and Heather about the Carpet. They are really talented when it comes to Flooring!

Thanks:smokin:

What are the pipes for? You didn't mention that already did you?

The pipes are for the overflow and return flow. It goes to my sump and refug in the basement.

I stained the stand and will be moving the tank in tonight.
I will finally be able to park in my garage!

I'll post a pic when I get the tank in.

Any updates? Or do you have another thread going on with the set up details?

I saw the tank in your gallary. I like the dimensions. Thats going to be nice especially with the sump and fuge in the basement.

I am just working on the setup of the plumbing. I'll take some pics in the morning.

I am trying to decide if a Dart will be big enough for the return. I measured the vetical distance and it is 8'

I was thinking I may go to a barracuda, but maybe that is too much power?

I am using a dart on the closed loop

If you want my opinion...and you probably dont! :D I dont think it matters how much flow you send through the sump. In fact, I think the longer the water stays in the sump, the better it gets the benefits of the filters that are located in the sump. I especially think you should run the fuge separated from your main tank circulation loop. I would dump some water from the tank directly into the fuge and then dump the fuge water into the sump. And slow the water through the fuge to a crawl. Maybe a couple hundred gallons an hour if that. But I do think the Dart is more than enough for the return. You could go smaller but to get to the same head pressure as the Dart you actually get into a more expensive pump, not cheaper. Funny huh?

Anyway, hope that helps some. :p Looking good, keep up the good work.

Well I have replaced all the bulkheads on the tank. I read somewhere a guy silicone them in. Is that a good practice?

But I do think the Dart is more than enough for the return.
So you think the dart is big enough for the return even with the height is has to go to?

I am also going to use a Dart on the closed loop. and there are only two returns for the closed loop. so that should move quite a bit of water.

My flex PVC will be her monday so I can finish all of my connections. Then I just need to order my pumps and get it running.

I am useing a dart as my return for about 10 feet up and split into 2 x 1" outputs. I find the dart OK but would like a little more flow. At 8' you should be fine with the dart.
Also I have found that you need a fairly good flow throught the refugium, as well as good circ. I tried the really slow method and found that the fuge was less efective.
Just my thoughts

I think I will try the Dart.

In my refug which has moderate flow , I found that adding a powerhead for better circulation helped the growth of macro I use in it.

My next issue with this setup will be the lighting and wheter or not I use a canopy. The previous owner did not use a canopy but he also had 3 de-humidifers in the house.

With just my 150 sump and 75 gal refug in the basement I have trouble keeping the humidity in check.

What do you guys do?

Mar:rollface:

i have been running my current fuge with a lot of flow & it helps grow macro like no tomorrow :)

i use a de humidifier in my fish room.

Sistered and posts. Glued and screwed the sister joist together. and 4x4 posts supporting setting on cement blocks.
