I am new to reef central but i have quit a lot of experiance with coral fraging and propagation, clownfish spwaning and i currently have a 500G reef tank (i know thats not what it says on my profile). I started doing clownfish breeding and coral propogation just to make cash to pay off the costs of my display reef tanks, it has also been very enjoying.
My coral propagation, and clownfish breeding opperation has gone so well that i have a lot of extra cash, to spend on my hobby. (I live in Sydney Australia, 10 minute drive from the ocean)

I want to make a 30000L (4m long, 3m wide, 2m height)
Reef Pool Outside in My backyard. (money is not a problem)

Does anyone have any suggestion about: Natural sunlight,
water changes, filteration, coral feeding, water circulation, Rainfall, water topping off, heating, cooling, and any other issues i have not stated?

When i start this Reef pool project i will post daily pictures of its construction on the large reef tank Forum.

I think that you might have a problem topping off with rain fall because i dont know how bad ur polution is there but rain has some bad stuff in it these days

I'm curious what you will use to cover the top?

Ive always wanted a reef pond with thick enough glass on top that I can walk on it or use it as a patio too :D

Hmm....10 minute drive to the ocean.....hmmm..I wonder how much pipe you would need and what pump to pull it that far...Well, it's good that money is no problem!

I am going to use a large shet of acrylic (2cm thick) placed over the rims of the Reef pool, it wont be sturdy enough to walk on but it will allow lots of light to penetrate during rainstorms.

When i mean a 10 minute drive to the ocean i mean i can go collect water from the ocean with a pick up truck with a large (water tub in the back) i can go to the ocean pick up my water go back home put it in a larger water storage container i aready have (10000 rainwater storage container) then i can go back to the ocean pick up more till i have enough.

Freed i didnt stick with the other thread because in the other thread my title was about salt and i didnt think many people would want to look at that. and i didnt write enough information about it so i made this thread.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

I assume with such a large tank youd need to well insulate from the ground all around it. maybe a huge geothermal chiller would be best for something that huge? Might as well if you already have to do a bunch of digging :) theres a good thread in the DIY forum on geothermal chillers.

This is a great dream tank... I wish I had answers for you but all my homework on equipment is only good for tank up to a few hundred gallons :)

I always wanted to do an outdoor one built into a small hill, and have one wall be glass, and try to make it look like the hill was chopped in half but the water magically stayed in

Ye i will use geothermal chilling thanks for the tip, I checked out the DIY forum. I know what u mean about the hill and the one wall being glass. (ps: good video)
