300gallon tank and flow

I'm looking for a power head with adjustable flow for a 300gallon SPS dominated reef tank. What would be an appropriate sized power head? I would also like to be able to manipulate this flow using a Neptune Apex.

Thanks

There are a few possibilities, you could use 2 6105 which at 24V and full power have a reach of nearly 8ft and flow diameter of about 2ft, this could be used to create a ring or Gyre current pattern. The 6155 comes out in November and has a 5ft by 3ft pattern and higher flow, this may be the best option at present only because you likely have 3/4" plus glass and the 6105 magnet holder is only for up to 5/8" and the 6155 is for up to 1". Next year around March yet another larger pump will be introduced that should reach 6ft by about 3ft.

Could the 6105 be attached to an overflow box with the external magnet in the water of the overflow box? There is thinner glass there and it actually would be better placed there, but I wasn't sure if the "outside" magnet would be ok in the tank water.

Both halves are waterproof so the overflow would be fine. Personally, I prefer a more focused flow creating a ring current or gyre where the flow wraps backaround, it seems more effective at sweeping up debris.

Thats what i use and like very much, Gives you a nice flow and keeps sand down better than facing them against each. IMO The wave action is not as good but i can get it chaotic if i want.
