30G Oceanic Cube Ok for RBTA and Pair of Clowns?

I'm looking to set up a species only tank for a RBTA and two clownfish.

Would this be a decent setup?

30G Oceanic Cube tank 20 1/2 x 18 1/2 x 21 x1/2
AquaC Remora Skimmer
100W heater
150W DE halide Pendant (would 175 or 250 be more appropriate?)

I would plan on making some kind of medium sized holed mesh/net box to go around the skimmer PH intake (mj1200), to prevent any sort of problems.

What are some good suggestions for flow? I was thinking maybe 2 tunze nanostreams, but I've heard good and bad things about them.

I'm not a beginner, I know anemones need great water quality, I've just never kept one before... but I have had all kinds of coral with great success.

That would be a great setup. I couldn't find the oceanic when i was looking, so i had to settle for a 40 gallon perfecto.

Probably be plenty big for a BTA. Actually, I have a BTA and about 30 corals and 5 fish and 60 lbs of live rock in a 29, so you should have plenty of room.

I have that exact set up 30 cube ac remora skimmer w/ 1 250 se 20 mh. 45 lbs of lr 3in sand bed, I use a canister filter and some pomerheads for curent and all is running great. i have 2 RBTA w/ a pair of picasso clowns. And a yellow watchman gobie, and a bunch of other coral. pic are in my gallery

Thanks guys. I know RBTAs are on the small side, but I'm a big fan of the species tank, so yeah... plus i already have my reef, and i don't want to put an anemone in it.

if I did like a 14K phoenix, is 150W enough?

Just make sure you leave plenty of space for them as they do still get fairly large in a hurry. Here's a pic of mine in my old oceanic 30g cube.

i will, i'm not planning on housing anythign else in the tank.

that is an excellent BTA. great coloration. what lighting are you running on that?

I was running a 150w sunpod HQI fixture with a 14,000K bulb.

I have a 30 gallon custom acrylic tank setup for my BTA. The demensions are (20x20x18) so it's pretty similar to that of the Ocean cube. I think you will have plenty of space but I would highly recommend to get the biggest sump as possible. This way you will have much more water volume thus more stability. I have the sunpod MH 14 Kelvin lighting fixture too and my BTA loves it.

do you already own the 150? if not, is there a huge cost savings (remember the cost of bulbs every six months...) if you go 150 over 175? i have a 175, and i wish i had just a little more. i'm tempted to think that 150 is a little weak, and the way you asked the question makes me think that your intuition agrees with me.

i'm not saying it isn't enough, i'm asking if 175 would justify the cost increase. marginal utility says 250 is too expensive, but maybe 175 is right on...either way, good luck!

yeah, i think i might try 175, though i know the bulb selection is a bit limited.

i found one locally with a sump. i'm not too worried about keeping the water quality, i've never had any issues in my reefs, both larger and smaller... but i know that's a primary concern.
