30g reef stock

I have had a fish only tank for a while now and it's gotten quite boring. I've always wanted to do corals and I have all the equipment already just don't know how to make the leap so to speak. Right now I have a tomato clown and a flame angel. Planning to get rid of both & start over. Tank is rimless so nothing that jumps and nothin that just hides all day. Thanks.

Also my tank gets slot of sun and my rocks are all covered in gross green algae so if anyone knows how to combat that and suggestions would be good

Do you have a sump? That makes dosing and ATo a lot easier to gpkeep parameters consistent. That said, I have run my 30 g sumpless for over 20 years as a reef. In that tank I have typically kept easy corals - softies, euphyllia. If you are not dosing, you want to avoid things that use a lot of calcium and may require kalk or dosing. I did drip kalk for years, using a drip jar that I filled (almost) every day, but that is a pain.

Why are you getting rid your current fish? I am guessing the tomato is aggressive, but you might be able to rehome the angel and get a much smaller tomato and try to pair them. Add an anemone and some soft corals, and have a cool tank. 30g is small for a flame angel, but I had a cherub angel who was happy in my 30 for over 7 years, it’s tank mates were a flame hawk (perfect fish) and one ocellaris clown.

I think LPS are the best looking coral anyway so I would mainly stick to those and soft corals for a while.
I don't have a sump running two AQ 30&50 with a Eshopps Hob skimmer.
I was thinking to get rid of the tomato because I fear he will not allow me to add other fish unless they are considerably bigger.
If I get another tomato clown, would that make the pair even more agressive.
The angel was smaller when I got him knowing I'd have to give him back eventually. I don't trust ordering online (bc I don't have QT) so usually I see whatever looks healthy at the Lfs. I would like a Midas blenny though and maybe a pair of clowns and royal gramma. Some colorful ones I had in mind. Thoughts on fish and or good starter corals ?

A blenny would be a good choice to help you deal with the algae on the rocks. My favorite is the tailspot blenny. It is the perfect size for your tank and very peaceful.

Other fish that you may want to consider:

Pink streaked wrasse - Perfect size for 30g, very peaceful and reef safe. Not picky eaters and may even eat some pests.

Royal gramma - Peaceful, reef safe

Gobies - There are many that could be listed but some of my favorite are:
Rainford Goby - Small, peaceful and have been known to eat algae. Needs a well established tank though.
Yellow Watchman Goby
Yasha Goby - Never had one but, they seem really cool.
