30g stand question

So I've built a few of these stands http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1169964

I love the design. I'm working on a stand for a 19x19 30g cube tank and I'm wondering if I could build this with 2x3s and get myself a little more room in the stand?

You could use 1x3s for that small a tank.

For even better space savings, use plywood. 3/4" will do the trick.
