340 A.G.E. Tank Build!!!!!

Well in light of a major tank failure we have decided to take the plunge and start a new tank.

The tank is going to be 72x36x30 from A.G.E. It will be a hybrid glass tank unlike our last acrylic one, with a PVC bottom, and starphire side panels. The new setup will be viewable on three sides, with one side set into the wall, that will allow viewing from the living room down the long axis of the tank.

Right now the tank is being constructed, and should be finished in a few weeks. With that in mind, I completed the stand construction tonight. Just need to have it acid washed, and then powder coated. It is made from 1 1/4 10g steel tubing, and is modeled specifically off of other A.G.E. stands.

Pictures of the stand construction will follow shortly. Along with the rest of the tank construction.

ok well as I said the stand is done. Just have to weld in the top cross braces, but waiting on the hole diagrams before I do. All sanded and ready for powder coating, I did cut the 3/4 birch ply top, but it was too dark for a pic.

The stand will house a sump, more than likely 48x36x12. This will hold the live rock rubble and skimmer which will be the main filtration for the tank.

The plan on water circulation is two closed loops in a alternating racetrack flow configuration. This should help keep everything kicked up in the water column. The pumps will probably be reeflo barracudas, given they are pressure rated and run less wattage than a few maxi jets. The sump return will be by existing blueline 250.
