it certainly is big, and it has its own set of issues to deal with......water flow being the biggest issue of all. I know Ed and I have talked about it a great deal and I dont think either of us really know what we are going to do.

Ed, the room looks great

thank you, I think we have tossed back and forth more flow options then I can remember. I think we have a solid plan for now with the 2 barracudas, maybe three.

Yours on the other hand is a whole new ball game, much more flow needed. Should be an interesting build

Did a little bit of work tonight, and got the drip tray ready for epoxy and silicone. The purpose of this pan is to lay in the bottom of the stand, totally sealed with resin and silicone, and it will have a 2 3/4 inch recessed bulkhead to allow for drainage. The base is 29/32 wafer board, and the sides are left over birch ply. This will catch all water spilt when changing pumps, draining calcium reactors, anything really, worst case scenario, leaks. :(

No water on the floor under the stand!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, almost forgot. For those wondering, my sewer clean out is right outside the house behind the tank about 3 feet away. And the drains will be plumbed into them. So no more buckets, or emptying skimmer cups, YEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS

Well in light of a major tank failure we have decided to take the plunge and start a new tank.

The tank is going to be 72x36x30 from A.G.E. It will be a hybrid glass tank unlike our last acrylic one, with a PVC bottom, and starphire side panels. The new setup will be viewable on three sides, with one side set into the wall, that will allow viewing from the living room down the long axis of the tank.

Right now the tank is being constructed, and should be finished in a few weeks. With that in mind, I completed the stand construction tonight. Just need to have it acid washed, and then powder coated. It is made from 1 1/4 10g steel tubing, and is modeled specifically off of other A.G.E. stands.

Pictures of the stand construction will follow shortly. Along with the rest of the tank construction.

looks like its going to be a nice tank put some guppys in that bad boy!

Stay tuned

that will be real nice...are you going to use a ball valve for water changes and just drain the water right out of the house

Yes more than likely I when i finish my sump, I will find out the exact volume of the sump, and when time to do a water change, drain all the water from the sump, and refill from a storage vessel in my garage, that will be pumped directly to the tank. Then pumps back on, and everything is normal. I am building a cabinet next to the tank that will house the skimmer and electrics. More than likely the top will house the mixing reservoir.

Did i mention the skimmer will drain directly out of the cup? That will be so handy.

Well got the rest of the plugs wired today. Gosh it was hot in the attic.
Also ran the RO line down behind the tank, and made a pretty nice little cover plate for it. This hooks into my Kalk reactor which has a solenoid that auto feed the sump when necessary. I also wired cat5 behind the tank for controller purposes.

Here is a pic

The drip pan is almost done, then the stand is to be coated, and I will have it in the room soon.

I think I would pull the water line out if I sold. I can just see that discussion with potential buyers not going well.

"yes mam, that sure is a water line right next to the outlets"
