Hi everyone im new to this hobby and was wanting to start reef keeping. Im a real newbie so sorry if my question are stupid in anyway. iv been reading quite abit but had a question on which HOB to get.

I have a 35 gal to start with(will be getting a bigger tank with sump later when i get the hang of things) and was wondering if i should get the reef octopus BH1000 or the BH2000 as there's not much difference in price those are the only 2 available in my area. Would the BH2000 be overkill for the tank? Not sure if it will become heavily stocked later. I dont have space for a in sump skimmer and this is my first ever reef tank. Thanks for answering my question

I have a Octopus BH 90 on my 29 gal. Great skimmer IMO. Small footprint as the pump is external. When you have a small tank with a HOB you want it to tank up the least amount of in tank space as possible. I think the 100 has a internal pump---that's why I went with the 90. Good luck with your tank.

hi thanks for the reply which one would you go for on a 35 gal , the BH 1000 or the BH2000 which is only a few dollars more. im just worried the BH2000 might be to big

I'm sure the 1000 is more than enough --even if you stock heavy.--_it's still rated almost 3x your tank size. Save the couple extra dollars and go with that---you'll need it. Things get very expensive. My wife's ready to kill me and I only have a 29. When I up grade she'll probably file for divorce.

sorry its a 45g cube got the measurements wrong. the BH2000 is only $20 more that's why i was wondering if i should just get the bigger one or will the BH1000 be plenty for the 45g
