350 Gallon Inwall Tank Project Begins!!

Today I went over the deep end of reef keeping and ordered a 350 gallon glass tank. The specs are 72" long x 40" wide x 28" high, Euro-braced, external overflow (1000-1500 gph), drilled for closed loop, 3/4 in. starphire front 3/4 in. everywhere else, black siliconed, black background. I ordered the tank from Aquarium Obsessed and it should be ready to pick up in 8 weeks!! The plans for circulation are a sequence hammerhead running an oceanmotion 4 way and an Iwaki pump for the return. The skimmer is a Deltec 850. The lights will be my current lighting setup (2x 250 watt MH) and 1x 400 watt MH with T5 actinics. I will use a rubbermaid 110 gallon stock tank as the sump. Everything will be controlled and monitored by my Aquacontroller III pro (except maybe some basic redundancy systems)

It will be a lot of work building the inwall setup and stand. I am also going to be upgrading my electrical panel to have 4 20 amp circuits put into the garage where the tank and all the equipment will be located. Most of this work I will be doing myself so wish me luck .

Things I still need to consider are room climate control (thinking about a portable 15000 btu AC/heater/dehumidifier ). Any suggestions or advice would be great.

My 110 gallon reef will be moved into the new setup once its up and running.

Thanks

Jacob

No I won the wife lottery ;) I would have a nice 1500 gallon with all the bells and whistles if I won the money lottery .

Will at AO built my 600gal (96x48x30)... All I can say is donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t expect a finished tank 8 wks... Took about 6wks longer then originally planned on my tank... He does build a great tank tho...

Should I go with two reeflow darts for the CL or one hammerhead?

What are the pros and cons?

Thanks

If it were me I would skip the CL and go with Tunzes, but if you are set on a CL then I would go with two Darts... It is always good to have redundancy... If you only have one Hammerhead and it was to die your whole CL would be down... If you have two Darts and one was to die you would still have one up and running... If you do with two Darts I would also have each one running both sides so that if one pump were to die you would have water circulation on both sides still, does that make since ??

I like the idea of having both darts run both sides. Would the outputs just be cumulative and not interfere with each other? (or I guess I could just put a valve linking both sides.) Either way Two Darts sounds like the way to go. Thanks for the input.

About another month to pick up the tank!!

Darn Jacob, you will have yours up and running before mine.I did pick up another Lumenarc and 2 more Tunze 6100.

my oh my

my oh my

you must have a LOT of time on your busy hands. Your wife must still be awesome, and very patient. I agree, nice deltec buddy. Nice stand, excellent work, you should probably build some things for inside your new house too, and add some diamonds to the box, never hurts to add jewelry you know. Nice job baby, your wife

Jacob,

Congrats on the purchase!

I have a "fish house" (as my girls call it) that I built in the garage with heat/ac and dehumidifier. The sump is 120g with a 55g and 35g hooked to it, and 2 separate quarantine tanks for fish and corals. I ran 4 20A lines and installed a sink as well.

I'm over in northern Suffolk (Harbourview) and you're more than welcome to check out my system for ideas.

Jake- Did you get the lumenarcs from Marvin? You are going to love the Tunzes. Are you going to run them on a multicontroller? I was admiring the wave action of the tunzes at Marvin's this past weekend. They were putting out a real nice 1 in or more wave run on the multicontroller.

NexDog- Yes it is similar. I have looked at your thread quite a few times. Thanks.

Lawgirl- Just got a Tiifanny's catalog which I will be perusing soon!!

Ixtrhys- I would love to come check out your "fish House." I am going to be installing an AC/dehumidifier/heater in my garage as well. The sink is eventually in the plans as well.

As far as an update on the stand. It is about 90% complete. I have finished the bracing and cross bracing and topped it off with the 3/4 in plywood. I bought a longer level and it is almost level. I wonder if I should shim to make it perfect or if the foam board will level it for me. I will more than likely shim. I'm going to be putting a cover around the entire perimeter of the stand. I am not sure if I want to go with a water resistant drywall or some panelling. Still debating that one.

Believe it or not I got a deal on Property Room on the Lumenarc, and the Tunze I picked up on RC! I have a Reefkeeper II on order(backorder) and was going to use them on it until I get a Mutlicontroler.I don't want to go to Marvin's! I would most likely come home with a Dart and a 4 way.Let me know what you are going to do about the stand(shimming or foam board) I'm sure mine will need some help to.

How's that budget treating you?

How's that budget treating you?

I hear you might have some budget problems. Are we running over budget and trying to hide the extra expenses in the grocery money? Where are some new pics of that big tank in progress, word is you are finally doing the whole floor and wall thing, epoxy part A and B, scary stuff, just remember, everything is "clearly marked". When is that big tank coming anyway?

wife

ps, the new tiffany's catalog arrived today along with the victoria's secret catalog, play those tank cards right baby.
