350g main tank power consumption

Hey All,

I am looking at the possibility of purchasing a 350g tank but I am curious to know how much of an electric bill hit I might be taking (ballpark figures). So if you have a big tank and have an idea of what it costs to run your tank, please share. I know there are a lot of variables to this (been reading posts for a while) based on setup but that's why I am asking ballpark.

I know about the calculator but I thought coming from reefers that are actually running tanks it would be more realistic and closer to actual values.

Well a 150 with 2 250 MH lights would run about $ 50.00 a month. So I would double that at least for yours.

My 180 show with 180G sump and 20 refugium takes about $150 - $200 easy

really depends on the cost of the electric in your area. use the electric calc on the front page of RC

My 390 costs $110 per month in electricity and $40 per month in water, plus food, media, bulbs, etc...

I dropped $15/ month just by switching from 150hqi's to t5's. they are overdriven on icecaps also. This is only on my 160 though. I have a friend with a 450 and he is running t5's not overdriven and has no prob penitrating all the way down (30") for his clams.

Shell out the money now and buy Solaris. You'll save a bunch of money each and every month from now on. They don't have any problem growing corals at the bottom of my 36" tank either.
