37 gal price

I was at Petsmart the other day and they had a 37 gallon for only $99. I'm thinking this is a good price. I'm not ready for a tank yet, but I'm thinking of buying it now for use in a few months. Any thoughts on the price?
Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Nurjrk,

Can't really compair prices as I am up north in Canada, but I find that if you chat with guys that are local or if there is a club in your area you can get amazinig deals with used stuff.
I ran into a great guy over here and he was cleaning up and gave me a 50 gallon for nothing.
Now I was REALLY lucky with that but lots of people are upgrading, downgrading moving or just getting out.
So figure out what you want, and pick up the parts as you go. Save lots that way.

I have to agree with Midknight. I picked up a 16 gal Nano cube, pumps, 2X96W quad PC lights, heater for $50 from a local reefer that was moving. I had missed 2 other deals on Nano's that same weeek.
By the way the Petco's here were closing out the Oceanic tanks and had 40 gal breeders for $49 and 54 gal Cubes for $99 if that helps for comparison.

dpending on the shape for a new tank it's not that bad, but it you are looking for a traditional rectangular tank then you cant beat used. I like hitting yard sales and looking throught the thriftynickel ads. I bought a 75 gallon last year for 60 bucks.

It's a great price for a brand new Oceanic tank! The 37g recently came out to replace the 30g so discounts outside of the large chain stores are hard to find. Try pricing one at your LFS and you'll find out.

In June 2004, I paid $149.99 for my 37g. The total for the tank and stand, with tax, was $317.42.

If a 37's what your looking for then I'd say that $99 is a very nice price!

I agree that $99 is a good price. I almost purchased a 37g from a LFS the other day, then I saw them cleaning the insides of their tanks with windex.....

yeah

37 gallons are great tanks. Petsmart discontinued this tank so I'd get it if I were you. You need the stand though too. I paid $249 for tank & stand and that was a clearance price. I like it better than the 30 cube because the stand is bigger and it will accept 24" length light fixtures. Only downside to this tank is that the bottom glass is tempered so it can't be drilled for an internal overflow.

Would pick another one up for $99 only if I could find one. They are discontinued as they have disappear in the San Diego Petsmarts. Several months back, I remember seeing the stand for $99 also. However, I got my 37 setup for $120 from a local reefer. ;)

I love my oceanic 37g "cube" tank. It is broken down for moving right now but I intend to set it back up soon.

I plan to drill the back before I set it up again to avoid the need for an external overflow. I highly recommend doing this if you are going to use a sump.
