37g Tall - Good Tank for Bangaii Breeding?

I have a 37g tall (30x12x22) just sitting here. It has the Eclipse hood system. All I need is a heater to get it up and running again.

Anyway, would this be a good tank to try my hand at breeding and raising Bangaii's? Just put a sponge over the filter intake??

it should be fine.
I'd use the top filtration- you'll need to ensure your pulling out any particulate debris. Save the sponge filter for the banngai fry grow out tank, you'll need to separate them from the adults (broodstock)

For some reason, I was thinking they stayed with the parents. Okay then...what tank size is good for the growout?

yea, this is a good size tank. you may need an artificial urchin, i dont know if parents eat young or not. i have not tried bangaii yet. when i get set up again, i will have a pair in a 20g tall.

I saw an artificial urchin in another thread. I don't know anything about urchins.....is there a reason not to have a real one in there? And can someone explain why the urchin is used? I assume they play a role in this in the wild??

Please excuse the newb questions, and don't worry - I won't rush into this. :)

Should be a great sized tank for them. I would wonder whether you could keep a live urchin adequately fed in that small a tank though. There are tons of great articles that can answer lots of questions. I'd start with a Google search on "frank marini banggai" and you'll get a ton of hits, such as this one:

and this, which gives you links to a lot more articles:

Feed 'em lots of food because the male has to hold those eggs for a _long_ time and can't eat while he's doing it. :) Good luck!
