38 Gallon Tall with Pics

I've decided to finally start a thread with my soon-to-be seahorse tank. It is a 38 Gallon tall with a biofilter/refugium thing that I may take down and just make into a full refugium. It has a 2 bulb 110 watt powercompact retrofit kit from www.ahsupply.com. One is a 6700k and the other is an actinic. This tank has been up and running since the end of January. I took most of the live sand from another aquarium that I had setup and the rest I purchased off Ebay. It has 30-40 lbs of live rock currently. There are some dead coral skeletons along with two dead seafans in their for decoration. So far, all that I have in the tank is 1 firefish, 1 neon goby, 1 scooter blenny, a purple frilly gorg, and a small zooanthids that i fragged off of the colony in my Aquapod. For the clean up crew, I have a few hermits, a mexican turbo, and 20-30 nassarius snails. As far as maintence, I change about 1-2 gallons of water per week and top of the water when it needs it with RO water. I dose with Purple-Up daily. Questions? Comments? Concerns?

And the Refugium

I plan on buying many different types of macro soon along with some more gorgonians. I am out of money currently so it may be about a month. My b-day is coming up so I hope to get some money from that.

take out the bioballs defintly. get some of the branching type of macros to act as perches for the seahorses. tanks looking nice so far kuda, isnt the scooter blenny awesome

what are the dimensions of the 38 gal??? i have a stand and i'm trying to figure out if that will fit, it's a good size :-)

might wanna get another neon goby i think they do good in a small school (and i think you could manage to support another one or two)

It is the same size as the standard 20 gallon long or 29 gallon AGA except taller. I'll get the exact dimensions later. Thanks for the comments.

if its the same size as a 20 long or 29 then its a 37 gallon.
AGA 38gallon are the following dimensions
36 1/4 x 12 5/8 x 19 3/4

AGA 37 gallon are the following
30 1/4 x 12 1/2 x 22 3/4

Ok then. I bought it from a local that said it was a 38. So its a 37 gallon. It's a really nice shape for a seahorse tank. Nice and tall. Thank you for your comments.

He's doing fine. He only eats it if it sits on the bottom, and thats kinda a problem. I'm buying a nautilus seasquirt this week so im going to squirt a lot near the bottom. Other than that, he eats frozen mysis and sweetwater zooplankton.

I think I am going to take the bioballs out sometime this week and put some live rock or something in there.

hey watch out for that metal clamp on your return pump/ vinyl tubing, it may rust and the rust will screw up ur tank parameters

good eye aqua, i didnt realize he had one in the water. Kudo you may want to replace that with a ziptie or a plastic hose clamp to prevent the rusting
