Hi everyone my name is Jack and I am in the process of building a 390 gallon plywood reef tank. Length 8', Width 38.5", Depth 24". I'm using rubberize it, six thick coats have already been applied, just need to finish my over flow then it will be ready for the black epoxy Paint. I will be using AI SOL Blues for lighting, a ATS for majority of filtration and some carbon. For flow in the tank I have four Tunze 6105's with a 7096 Tunze controller. I also have a Neptune Apex which I use for my temperature controller, pH monitor, orp monitor, and it runs two of my three AI Sol Blues. For heat is two Finn ex 800 watt titanium heaters. And last but not least is the protein skimmer, Tunze 9480 Doc Skimmer, which I just picked up from UPS this morning.

As of right now I have a 100 gallon Rubbermaid stock tank as my main tank, and a 50 gallon Rubbermaid stock tank which is my sump used for my ATS and my smaller Tunze protein skimmer, along with a Knop calcium Reactor. As for livestock One Purple Tang, 20 separate leathers, some Zoa's, several candy canes, one Hammer, one Frogspawn, one Clam, Zena, cloves, green star polyps, neon green stylophora , and a couple of Acros. Will add pictures as soon as I figure out how. everyone have a nice day.

just plywood as of right now. The frame is 2/8 it is pretty sturdy.

cool
ya the stand looks real sturdy, but i think the tank is self with only plywood will not hold all that water.
IMHO

ps nice fish and corals you got there, im going to check back in and see how you like that skimmer looks sweet.

thats gonna be a nice setup....

always appreciated a plywood tank, but simply dont have the stones to build one lol...

'Thanks for the reply, I am hoping it will hold water, I built the tank using dominios and wood screws and gorilla water proof glue. The back wall is stout and once I get the starfire glass in I think that will stiffen up the front and sides. I will fill it slowly and the back of the tank will be up against the wall so if I have any deflection it might be the front. Sorry the pictures are not more clear of the aquarium but I am having to shoot down from the top.

Well my stones are feeling more like pebbles as I get closer to getting this done. Believe me I have my doubts sometimes and I feel if I have a problem it will be the overflow.

Yes, the teeth in the overflow look awfully small in the photo.

At 8' in length I'm pretty sure you will want to add at least two 4-6" wide cross braces for deflection. Another thing you could consider is putting a top framing piece with two or three cut-outs, similar to what you have put on the sides for the glass (biscuits, screws, Gorilla glue, etc.) equivalent to euro-bracing on a glass tank.

Thanks Dave I may have to do just that but I cant put any bracing on until I have the glass installed, the two sides would not be a problem but the front would be.
