3gal Eclipse problems

So I have a Eclipse 3gallon System that has been sitting empty and would like to turn into a nano tank.

I've never done anything this small before, the smallest was a 20gal when I first started.

So right now Im running the Eclipse just to see if it hasn't aquired any cracks since it's been sitting in our basement.

My question is, I was looking to keep various coral in there, so how would I need to fix up the system?

I'm guessing that the filter and light will have to go and get new ones?
What would be a good type of lighting that I could do to fit it? Clamp on or something? And what bout a filter?
I have been looking through pages in the nano section, haven't found a whole lot that petains to the Eclipse 3 system and would like everyone's input.

For the tank setup I was rather fond of corals and a few sexy shrimp pretty much.

Anyone? I'm browsing sites right now trying to find a nice lighting system that would work.

USE THE FORCE LUKE SKYWALKER.

USE THE FORCE LUKE SKYWALKER.

i just started a 6g eclipse. it's still in it's infant stage. i'm still learning this mini craze. The FORCE is with you LUKE trust in it and you will succeed.

U need to add a secondary filter. More carbon. And LOTS and LOTS of TLC.;)

I have not done anything smaller than a 6G, though I'm sure I will. However I pretty much all of the concepts are the same just scaled down.

I don't know what filter it has, however all it is really good for is for the sake of water movement and maybe a place to put a sponge to pick up the big debris.

What's the GPH rating on the filter's pump?

You'll need lighting. What are the dimensions of the tank? You may best of buying PC screw in bulbs, or even the 50/50 actinic ones coralife makes.

Could you fit something like this under the hood?

I used that 2nd light and had great resupts, LPS etc.

I'm not sure of the GPH rating on the filter's pump its just the one that came with the eclipse system, so I have toj ust pull out the box and look it up and see if it says.
The lengths is about 12" so the second light fixture will work well on it, but if I do go with that light fixture I have to remove the intank filter anyway to have enough room, so I might as well go and get a HOB filter or some sort.

But I will have to remove the Eclipse hood completely because the little 6watt light is built into the hood itself.

Well I ordered that light, but from dr. fosters because I'm not in Canada and so on. Actually the price was a lot cheaper anyway. And I will replace the filter being as the light won't fit with the intank filter to begin with.

you can continue to use the hood by taking the light that came in there out. I have done this to my 12g eclipse and a 3g eclipse. I purchasesd a 18 watt coralife mini, http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_Aquar...nt_coralife_mini_aqualight_lamp_fixtures.html .
You also have to take the fixture apart. I took the reflector and bulbs out of the unit and extended the chords so the ballast was seperate. The only problem with putting a light like this on was the temperature of the water was usually too high. But it looked great. I had leathers, stars, kenya tree, mushrooms, and other easy coral in there and they did great. I also kept the stock filter on it as well just changing the filter when it needed it. I can take pictures if you want, just let me know. I dont check this site very often so if you have questions email me at lake_junkie@hotmail.com.

Good luck.

Here's the setup I made for my 6 gallon eclipse. You would probably only have room for one 20 watt light on a 3 gallon. Good luck!
