3x Hydras vs. 300W Razor

Hi All,

I am trying to make a decision. I am upgrading to a 5' x 2' x 2' 150g tank. I already have 2 original hydras and AI director. I have an option to either buy a third matching hydra or a used Maxspect Razor 300W 16000K. Any input would be appreciated.

The tank is currently stocked with birdsnests, pavonas, montis, frogspawn, octaspawn, chalice, duncans and acans. There is also bunch of palys, kenyas and shrooms that I really don't care about.

Little off topic but how have the colors been on your birdsnest with the hydra? sorry dont have any experience with the razor.

Actually, the color is really good. I have purple, ora penope and blue and they haven't changed coloration since I have added. I am keeping 80% blues, 60% white, with rest @ 5%.

Good to know. I was just going to ask what percentages you were running. I have had my numbers alot closer to even and growth rates have been great on all of my corals but colors on my green birdsnest and stylo have faded.

I have a similar sized tank (60x24x24 SC Aquariums 150) I'm setting up right now. I don't see why it wouldn't work but from a uniformity/spectrum standpoint I would personally go with another Hydra or two. I've just purchased two AI Hydra 26's to go with a Vega Color I already have (will possibly be selling it and buying two more Hydra 26's).. I would buy another Hydra or two so you are able to control them all and have the same look across the tank.

That's what I am leaning towards. My 150 is from SCA as well.
