That's really the way to do it. Try different colors till you find one you like. The purple plus is going to make the tank much brighter.
I tried 2 blue plus and 2 coral plus but it was way to bright or white for me.

Yes, I figured by getting at least 2 blue plus and 1 coral plus and 3 other bulbs I would be able to try out alot of different combos.
Ok...receiver my bulbs today...here is the 1st combo and order I am trying...

only had them in the fixture about an hour...not sure yet what the real color will burn into but right now I don't know if it looks much different than the cheap bulbs that came with the light fixture...what order should I have them in? And it sure doesn't look like the really blue pics you all have shown me with these same bulbs...hmmmmm

That's because pictures are pointless. They will never give you a true sense of the color in real life.
If you want blue, go with 3 blue and 1 coral plus.

Try replacing the purple plus for the actinic. The purpl plus bulb is bright and at least for me it makes the tank looked washed out.
But remember, the pictures are more blue than in person. Also I would change up the order of the bulbs. This will change how the tank looks.

Ok...ill try that combo and order tomorrow... yes, the purple plus IS very bright...and I do think it is washing it out.

Its looking ok...still not sure about my combo. Right now it is

Thev first two bulbs are on one cord and the next two are on another cord...I tried the actinic but felt is washed stuff out a bit....im still not sure I like this combo either...

Are you looking for fluorescence or reflective color? It is a balancing act to achieve both. By increasing one you lose the other.
Actinics are barely noticeable so I doubt it washed anything out. It will increase fluorescence but decrease reflective color.
2 blue and 2 coral plus is usually your best bet. Adding a purple in place of one coral plus will add a lot of red and decrease fluorescence tremendously.

By spacing out your bulbs it will also help. Having 2 blues in front and then 2 daylight stacked will really give a funny look.

I'll try that combo..I guess im looking for the best of both color and flourescence.

I had that tank for a year with this combo: 1 blue+, 2x10k, 1 actinic.
I had lps crawling out of the tank growing and sps that grew from frags to a piece that was about 9" when i upgrated to a larger tank.
