On 10-20-08 I Got 2 new ballast's to replace my PFO M-80's and one just went out . this weekend i noticed one of my bulb's was out. it was all plugged in, so i unplugged it & let it sit for about 15 min. then plugged it in and it was good. then today i came home and it was off again so i did the same thing and it fired then stayed on for 15-20 sec. and died. so i unplugged it and checked all the wiring again (all good) same thing, and now it won't stay on for more then 10 sec. marine depot said i have to talk to Icecap. I left a message at 5:22pm pst.. So well see what kind of customer service they have. their are Thousands of $$ in coral depending on this light and i hope this is not the first of many prob's with my first Icecaps!! (my PFO's Lasted for years with NO problem at all. THIS SUCKS!!!

CALL IceCap...They are great or have taken care of me in the past. They will require the serial number on the ballast.

It gets cloudy and dark on reefs too. I wouldnt stress over a few days of dark?

yeah, call Ice Cap....they should replace it for you.

Or, contact them on their board here on reefcentral.

Unless you swapped the bulbs, it could be the bulb that is dying on you as well. Icecap is known for their great service, so I would suggest doing some troubleshooting first and calling them if that is indeed the issue.

And your "thousands of dollars of coral" will be just fine. At worst, run the same bulb/ballast on both sides with a shorter photoperiod.
