Ouch. I'm trying to get my baffles cut for a sump. 1/4" glass ain't cheap.

My question.......is this about what you would expect to pay?

Acrylic is always an option. It isn't cheap either, but it is easier to work with and should come in a little bit lower than that. Silicone doesn't stick to it very well, but if you can get enough to make a "dam" on each side, it doesn't really need to. A plus side to it not sticking is that it is easier to remove the baffles if you ever need to move them.

I got 4 panels of 3/8" glass at 10" x 11" for under $20 at Lowes. They will cut it to your specs as well.

I was wondering how much difference 3/8" would be......it should be strong enough.

Also.......Advanced Plastics was closed on Thursday......I was trying to compare prices.

I got 1/4" at the hermitage one before but it broke so I got 3/8" when I rebuilt my sump about 2 months ago and picked up this glass at the new Lowes on Nolensville/Old Hickory. Have fun

1/4" and 3/8" is special order only.....at least now it is.

I've wasted so much gas/$$ trying to find a good price on glass......and I'll be stopping back by Tennessee Glass on the way home today to pay them what they want.

I broke some of the glass on the top cover of my tank a few weeks ago trying to clean it. I went to Home Depot with the measurements. The measurements werent exact from their cutting but they did it for me out of scraps and didnt charge me a thing. Just a quick fix till I buy a new glass cover. The whole cover is only $40 for the whole top not a bad price. (from factory) But Home Depot came through for me for a quick fix at no charge.

I must have missed this thread first time around.

$51 for baffles is ridiculous.

I got 3 baffles and 4 more pieces to do an overflow and it was all only $32 I think.

Had to chime in on the $$ thing. I have always used 1/4" glass on my sumps and its always been really cheap. I just had 4-1/4" baffles cut for my 50g and never asked the price. When I went to pick them up it was just over 50.00 also and I was quite stunned at the cost. They explained that the cost of glass has gone up the last 6 mths pretty steadily. The same is happening to the cost of the acrylic they get also and its causing some issues for them in the field.

So its the same her in NC also on the prices going up on it.

HD and Lowes all have the thin stuff and I just wanted the 1/4.
