40 breeder lighting

what would be the pros and cons of using just a halide on a 40 breeder?? are there mh bulbs out that are really blue or would I be better off with a combo light??? What about heat transfer to tank???
I was thinking about a 250 whalide w added moonlights or one of the aqualight pro hqis with the lunar lights, and 2 65 w pcs

A single 250w halide with a 14k or 15k bulb would be perfect IMO. As long as you don't have a center brace of course. You could also go with a nice T5 setup (4 bulb). Depends on what you want to keep in the tank, and how much money you want to spend.

will corals fluoresce(sp) with just halide??

Not really. Not even close to as good as with VHO actinic(s) anyway. But you do get the cool glitter lines that can make up for it.

I ran a single 175W MH with a 10K Ushio bulb when I had a 40 breeder tank. I saw no need for any light supplimentation.
