40 gal - BeanAnimal Overflow?

Hi All!

I'm finally starting back into the madness! It's been 12+ years since I handed my set up to a friend new to the hobby and stopped lurking around here...can't even remember my old username :)

So much has changed, and so much is still the same, but I know for sure that I've missed my tanks! I've recently gone from 2 incomes to 1, so the build will be slow - and I think this part is killing me because there is so much time between purchases to find different ways to build it all!

Looking for your input on my overflow. In the past, I always had an external overflow...and I hated it. This time I'm looking to drill the tank - if I can find someone to do it - not into DIY when it comes to glass...I'm too clumsy with drinking glasses!

I ran into a deal on a glass 40gal (pretty sure it's too tall to be a breeder). The more I read about overflows, the more I really like BeanAnimal's.

Is this overkill on a 40 gal? Not sure where I'm going to start, but eventually I'll probably either go SPS or anemone (have always loved the idea of anemones & clown fish, but afraid I'll muck it all up & it's a small tank so...).

Hoping one day the 40 will be a sump for a bigger tank, but right now this broke girl is excited to fill the tank she has!

Thanks for your comments & good to be back!
