Using your 40 breeder for display and 65 Gal for sump makes a lot of sense to me. But I wouldn't have realized that prior to seeing what you did. Not knowing anything different, I would have done the same thing that most people would have done and used the 65 for the display tank. That's too cool, just fill the sump up and turn on the pump. I can truly appreciate any fail safes against flooding. I would like to do something similar in the future.
Last week I was sent to a new job site, and it appears that the next 3 months are going to be a little hectic. I will start a build thread this weekend, but it probably will not be too exciting at first due to the lack of time right now.

Amazing build! tank looks great man, i too have a 40b sitting in my living room waiting to be finished. i wanted to ask you about the drylok you used to bond the rocks together. im not familiar with that stuff was hoping you could give me a little more info as to which one to get since my local home depot has several different types. thanks ill appreciate any info.

Dry-Lok is a brand name. You can use any brand of hydraulic cement, like DAP Quick-Plug or anything like that. It's just a cement for quickly plugging water leaks in concrete. It cures in about 5 minutes and is safe for aquarium use. I'd give it a good soak in some diluted vinegar water for a little while so it doesn't raise the pH too much at first.

I don't do a thing with it and never have. I have Nassarius snails, (had a Twin Spot Goby that did the same things as) my DWG, and hermits. Honestly my DW goby keeps my sand so clean and white, I'll never have to do a thing with it.
