hey all...

need opinion...

i had a stand made up for my 150 .... stand is 40" high... tank is 25" high on top of the stand..open top euro brace...

It will be in my family room... we mostly sit on the couches in the room....

At first look it looks too high........

the stand will cost 1k to make another one and would be 36" high....

is it worth the $ to redo the stand? is it too high for a room that you mostly sit on a couch a few feet from the tank?

Im so confused...

ill post the photo shortly

here is a photo...

the paper shows where the tank would sit if i had a new stand made up 4" shorter total height 36"

looks perfectly fine to me! I just made a 34" stand for my 18" tall tank, just right for me. for a bigger tank i would be happier taller.

joyce,

do you feel the one behind the couch at 43 is high when sitting on the couch..? that is my concern since we mostly sit in this room and at 40 you are looking up at the tank...

a grand isnt worth 4" in my opnion, can buy alot of corals with that! and even can put a good dent on ur lighting and skimmer! I like the idea of not having to be bending down to look at tank, my current stand is 28.5" tall, and i have to get on my knees, to see, thats why i made the new one 34"

the height is perfect! Only problem is you'll need a step stool, but even if the stand was at 36" you'll still need a step stool unless your really tall

Too short...

Too short...

It's too short!

Actually, it's close to perfect for viewing and for plumbing and headroom underneath. You'll be amazed how much time you'll spend on your knees working in the stand. You'll appreciate that extra height later on. Plus, you have a lot more flexibility selecting a generous-size skimmer to fit under there...

if the we have 2 couches next to the tank...

do you feel looking up towards the tank is bad? at 40 it is a look angled up at the tank...

???

I think you should be fine. You will be able to see the tank great from the couch.

If you want to see things up close you are going to have to stand next to the tank anyways. Its better to be standing straight up than to have to squat down.

I like it. MY stand is tall like that too, and it looks nice when your looking slightly up at it from the seat, and you can stand there and look in without killing your back from bending for an hour.

I like the taller stand... little more of a pain to work in, but the trade off for more hight underneath should be well worth it IMO

but then I keep a ladder in my fish room to get in my tank as well...

simple, if you are going to be sitting during most of the time in the oom, grab one of those chairs and make yourself comfortable. now look at the tank. too high? staring into the lights? cant see the sand bed or the critters on or just over it?
