Does anyone think that a pair of 400W 14K's are to big for my 120G? after a great color up, seems to be having some bleaching on sps and lps... Any thoughts? Maybe 20k's instead?

I kwno someone that had 4 400 watters over a 120, now he has 2 400 watt 10kxms. I personally think its to much and you can save money with 250 watters. Your probably bleaching your lps with 400 watters. Just my opinion

I don't think it would be too much for the SPS, but maybe the LPS; however, I can't really say for sure about the 14Ks as I run the 6.5Ks and the LPS just don't like it.

I have two 400 watt 20,000k radiums over a 75 gallon...with supplimental actinic whites....... My SPS including my LPS are doing great.... color very nice..... I doubt it is your lighting causing the bleeching unless you just changed the light from a much weaker source to a much stronger source. Just my 2 cents.

I run dual 400's over my 120, 6.6 watts per gallon...isnt that just a little over what they recommend.

Only wish I had 250s for the power aspect but its not really that much of a difference.

Check for a cracked bulb.

I agree, not too much, I run 2 400w 20k on my 125

what are the signs if a bulb is cracked ( meaning coral reaction )?

Onehundred20......6.6 watts a gallon is not outragous...... I had read a book recently Ultimate Reef Aquariums...very good book a must have, it answered many of my questions. The average sps dominated tank had an average watt/gallon of I think 8.6. I personally believe it is better to error on the side of too mush than not enough.... that is just me though. I currently run 13.26 watts a gallon without any ill effects to my acros. Actually good growth with good coloration.

didn't see anything cracked or burned... I did however change my flow back to the original settings... Now should an acro have more direct flow than indirect? Seems like this blue acro likes to have pretty strong direct flow to get its feeders out even when the halides are on..
