400watt MH question.

Will this be too much on a 90 gal? I wanted to go with 250s but I've found a pair of 400s for very cheap. Will i have bad problems with head? These can't run lower watt bulbs right?

If you only keep SPS I think it's okay. But, you'll have to invest a lot of money into a large chiller.

U certainly can but the money u r saving now u will be spending in no time on a chiller as well as FPL .:smokin:

Ok. so then I'll look for smaller. You think that 250s will be too much for a mixed reef too?

I use 250s on a 90 and they work great. Acros at the top, LPS at the bottom and Montis all over.

I've used 3 400 watt MHs on a 125g, which is alot shallower that the 90g and the corals (mainly SPS) did great, just need a way to deal with the heat, but the 250 watts will be fine, I think I went overkill on the lighting, also it will save some money on the electric bill going with the 250's
