40B sps location help

I have a 40B tank that i will be just sps only. I have a red planet frag so far. I will be buying more sps soon. I really don't know where to place frags at. I'm hoping y'all can help me out on location's for the frags. The light is 250 reflux 12k.

Judging by that photo, I'll say in the middle. :)

I almost didn't look at this thread, but I was glad I did when I saw this.

I would try to keep any tabling acro's as low as possible to avoid any shadowing of corals as it grows. With such a shallow tank, you should have plenty of PAR at the bottom.

Center of the tank, mid to high up. You will need to play around with the placement of every coral you get, each one will want different lighting and flow. Here is a pic of my 40B so you can see where I place my sps, there is a RP in there if you can spot it.

Here is my RP not the best pic or the best color, lost some of the green when my alk dropped. I have it high up in the tank.

Keep placement of future additions in mind. It's common sense really. If this coral were to thrive and become a large colony, would you want it at the top? This is a tabling acro that is capable of blocking a lot of light, which will limit what you'll be able to keep below it. With a good 250w lamp it will get plenty of PAR on the bottom.

You might want to join a local reef club, if you haven't already, and try to find a mentor that has kept a successful SPS reef for several years. I don't mean a tank full of frags, I mean a grown out reef. An experienced reefer's knowledge can help you avoid future problems.

Why are you guys even suggesting switching to LED's? The look of LED is a very subjective thing and is not for everyone. Personally, I hate the look of it. There's no reason to even think about switching his lighting unless it is causing issues or he wants a different look etc...

if you want it to have some green, put it on either the left or right side of the rock work (which i recommend). if you want it all red/pink, put it in higher light. It will grow like a weed once it gets going.

This was growing under a 250 watt pendant (250w xm de bulb and 2 T5's all high above my 40breeder like you light).
FTS...it was right behind the blue mille (and left of the green mille). the blue mille is above the yellow fish.
