40B stock suggestions? (fish)

Hi guys - returning from a long hiatus and looking for suggestions. Last time around I had a handful of fish but got so sucked into the corals that I really did very little research on fish that I could have kept at the time. I'm wondering if I'm really missing out on stuff?

The only thing I really want is a pair of clowns. After that I'm really open to suggestions. Reef safe though, I'm sure I'll get back to those in the future as well. :)

Wrasse are good but jumpers (beautiful colorations). You could get away with a Dwarf Angel (feed enough to keep eyes off coral). Any smaller reef safe fish would be fine in a 40B. Wouldn't add too many fish though.

Pygmy angel, royal gramma, longnose hawkfish, midas or starry blenny, a small goby like a yasha would work

I third the long nose.. really cool fish.. always watching.. and tons of personality

How reef safe are Pygmy angels? All I'm planning on are softies, but I know angels (even little ones) can be iffy.

I had a flameback that didn't bother anything in the tank. Keep in mind that hawkfish, dottybacks, and wrasses are all iffy with ornamental shrimp.

How about Anthias?
They are really pretty, and have great personalities, and won't overwhelm your size tank.
I love mine!

Thanks for the suggestions!

Love the look of the cherub angel.

How about 2 clowns, cherub, bicolor blenny, orchid dottyback? Could I add a trio of damsels? Or is that pushing it?

The Waiteis would, wouldn't they?
Or perhaps a Black Cap Basslett.

Maybe. I'm not familiar with that species. Seems like most anthias need a bigger tank then that.

Love the black cap baslett

Thanks for the suggestions!

8 fish is pushing it.

Of that list, I would do, with the angel added last:

clowns
blenny
dotty
angel

My opinion, of course.

Ok guys, reevaluating after looking at availability and prices a bit.

I'm thinking about 2 clowns, 2 banggai cardinals, 1 royal gramma, 1 starry blenny or bicolor blenny. So 6 fish total. Any issues here?
