Does anyone know if it is possible for me to modify my current 48" coralife aqualight dual MH 150W w/ dual 96watt pc's to a dual 250W MH by simply changing the ballasts for the MH and getting new bulbs?

I was looking at staying with the DE 250W to use the same fixture and only change the ballast.

I was thinking of going with two-single 250W coralvue ballasts.

Thanks, Steve

I have kind of the same light its an current USA outer orbit, but its got 2x150 mh and 2x130 pc, i am going to keep up with the post

new clips and a new fixture

i heard that they arent made to withstand the heat generated by the 250w

IF YOU WANT TO DO IT

new ballast, bulb holders, new fans, asnd bulbs and i would check to see if the wiring can handle the 250w

cant be too careful

GS-Rock

i have seen an current usa retrofitted with 2 SE 250w metal halides

it was not a pretty sight and i thought it was a pc unit until i touched it and burned my hand

I know that Coralife aqualight comes in a dual 250W version, but it is over$900 plus shipping. I would rather mod mine then have to fork out that kind of cash for the better fixture.

If I can't mod it, or it won't be safe, then I guess I'll sell mine and get the higher powered one.
