480g Tank Dimension Opinions

Hello all,

I've been looking for a larger tank to upgrade to from my 220g. I've finally found one locally that someone is selling, but I am reluctant due to the dimensions. It is 96 Long / 48 (front to back) / 24 Tall (480g, 3/4inch acrylic) with a blue acrylic back. The 24 inches tall seems like a small viewing window to me, but I haven't seen it in person yet.

My question is how do you all think this would fair in a reef setup and if anyone has any experience with, or seen, a reef tank with similar dimensions and what their opinions on them are?

24 high seems to be the standard in a lot of tanks. With something that long I would worry about it. I just got a tank made 24 high but built the stand high enough to be a able to see the tank without bending down.

Go any taller than 24-27" maintenance really becomes an issue and it's near impossible to reach the bottom easily. My father had a 36" tall 500 gal and it was awful. An it was about 40" front to back...

Yup stick with the 24" tall anything taller would be a royal pain in the rear to do maintenance

24" is as tall as you want to be. I have a 30", and it's a pain to reach the bottom of the glass. And I'm 6'3".
