48x30x24 recommendation

Could use some help on pump recommendations. Current tank is a standard 48x18x24 - 90 gallon setup. Thinking about moving to a 48Lx30Wx24H ~150 gallon setup in the next 4-6 months. Right now the tank is all softies but want to work towards SPS.

Working my way towards all the parts and pieces so looking to get some decent pumps for this.

In working the Tunze website configurator I get alternating recommendations for 2 of either the 6055 or the 6105. Not certain I understand completely the difference between the nanostream and "normal" stream pumps or why one vs. the other. In general I would lean towards more smaller pumps so leaning towards the 6055 and perhaps adding a third unit when I get the larger tank.

Hoping someone here can shed a little more light on this for me.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Two 6095 would likely be the best suited given your inhabitants and concerns. The 6095 is the same physical size as the 6055, just stronger and with a wider more diffuse flow. Each pump covers a roughly 3ft by 3ft area, longer when the flow is channeled by a narrower tank. The full size Streams are about the size of a softball, the nano streams are about the size of the raquetball. The Streams being larger are stronger pumps. The models 6055 and 6095 are controllable nanos, and 6105, 6155 and 6255 are controllable full size models. The other models are not controllable but 6045 has a basic mechanical flow adjustment.

Thanks for the quick reply and info. I have ordered the two 6095's for now.

Would you place them in the back corners facing diagonal to front or one on each end with one cheated front, one back? Or is this really something I need to experiment with?

I suspect I need to experiment, just looking for best practice as to where to start with the wider flow pump.

It's definitely something you'll want to experiment with because so much depends on rock and coral placement. That said, I've personally found that in a case like yours I usually try all options and then end up with the pumps in the two back corners, pointing diagonally across the tank. But that's usually just for aesthetic reasons; the tank usually looks better without pumps centered on the side panes.
