Its time for an upgrade my tank is a 75{48x18x20}gallon .I need to get a biggger tank and was thinking of the 155{72x24x25} bow front .
Will I be able to keep the 4ft tek 6 bulb fixture for this tank or will I need to look at getting a new light.I have a mix of corals rangeing from clams, lps, sps, soft.
I would like any additional info concerning the upgrade to the 155.Any help please..thanks

you could get away with it, it wouldn't be optimal as a foot on each side is a little much for any reflector to stretch out. if it was only for a two to three month period i think you would be ok (simply keeping everything the same distance away from the lights as the were in the 75 would insure that things were ok), but i would look into a newer unit if you want to really have your tank glow. i have a personal soft spot for the fauna marin ultra solaris fixture, you should check it out as it very reasonable (a relative term in this hobby) and really blows the competition out of the water IMO.

here is the thread about the fixture, which includes bulbs ballasts, built in fans, and reflectors- the owner of Fauna Marin writes on this thread as well- http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=994592

here is a german site ( so its translated via google) that has some technology reports that are absolutely worth reading- http://www.google.com/translate?u=http://archiv.korallenriff.de/&langpair=de|en&hl=en&ie=UTF8

The light fixture is less then a year old. What other options can you guys/girls come up with?
I was thinking of some of those clip on metal halides..
I guess i could leave the ends of the tank open{put all low light corals}at the ends..
Any others have any input,thanks.

I have the same size tank at work.

It is run by 4 96watt pc's. Enough for anemone's, but not much for anything else in my opinion.

I will say that the back of the tank faces the window so it gets a fair amount of sun as well.

So from what everyone is saying,Iwill have problems as far as enough lighting for my sps, lps.I was thinking I could move all the high light corals to the center leaving the outer edges for the low light corals.
Low light would be mushrooms, leathers and such?
Or am I reaching?
Thanks again....

do what im going to do... fill the 155 4' with t5 and a mh for the last 2'.. solve your problem.... you can keep softies and lps under the t5 ang grow sps/clams/nems under the mh.. ( im going to use a 400 watter mh in mine)

Thangbom321 ...So are you hanging the t5 setup in the middle then adding 1 or 2 mh at each end? Also could you guide as to where your getting the mh fixture..
Thanks for responding everyone
