I have a 8x2x2 240g tank in storage but I think I am going to build a 4x4x2 tank instead. With thickness is the glass or acrylic on your tanks? Is it rimless or braced and how?I am just getting ideas for when I am done building our house I can build the tank I want.
Thanks!!

I think for 4x4x2 you will need at least 15mm on glass.. acrylic should be thinner... I recall there's a calculator somewhere... let me see if i can find it.

my 48x48x24 cube has 3/4" acrylic all around and its eurobraced 6" with 3/4" acrylic also...

No bowing at all...

So let me try and explain what I was thinking.I would build the whole tank from 1/2" glass .Then I would put a 2" to 4" strip layed flat all the way around the bottom of the tank on the inside. Then for the top put a 4" to 6" strip all the way around flush with the top lip of the tank and add gusets? on top of that on the corners.Does anyone see any problems with the way I am thinking of doing this? The tank will be trimmed out so the top and bottom lip wont be showing.

Mine will be a 360 view.Is it true Starphire glass is weaker then plate glass?

Some people say starphire scratches easier... I think in most cases its got more to do that starphire us used more on rimless tanks which make it more vulnerable...
