5.5g AGA Setup

Hey guys,

I'm getting ready to setup a 5.5g mini reef. I've already got all the stuff for the setup and below is my list. I was planning on using new sand. I was also going to take 5g out of my existing 54g to put in the tank along with a few pieces of live rock from my current tank. Will this help my tank cycle faster? The reason i ask is because i've purchased a nice piece of liverock from my LFS and they are holding it for me. The live rock is covered with zoos. My question is: If i use the water and liverock from my 54g, will my 5.5 cycle faster and be ready for me to add that liverock within a week? Keep in mind i'm not planning on adding anything else but the few pieces of liverock from my current setup and that rock with the zoos. The only think i'm worrying about is losing the zoos. Will they be ok after only a week? My 54g tank is about 6 months old.

i dont think it will help is cycle faster but they should be ok after a week anyways

get your LFS to test your water and tell you, or do it yourself
(i only wait a week and nothing has ever died)

they should be alright

but if you are really worried and dont want to take a chance just wait 2 weeks

if your 54 is already established and the liverock from it has been in there cycled and everything, of course it will help your tank cycle faster...if it is mature rock and you only had it out of the water for a very short time, there shouldn't be much of a cycle at all.
