5 gallon regent aqua tec (walmart tank)

I just took apart my 125 gallaon and sold everything but my sister wanted her hermit crab I had in my tank so I got her a $40 nano from walmart. I got some sand in it and a piece of nice live rock. I also have a baby damsel in there with a hermit crab. My question is on the lighting. It came with a hood that has the filter and bio wheel and lighting all in the hood. It has a flouresent bulb thats about 8-10 inches long. Can I upgrade this bulb so that I can keep some soft corals? Anyone got one of these tanks? I'll post pics tomorrow...

How cheap is the plastic hood will it withstand the heat?

I have an Eclipse Six, this looks like the same hood as you have. I've had very little luck with the "factory" hood, I disassembled the hood, added two small 13w power compacts, and fabricated a plexi-glass blue LED night light, with a dimmer included. This works great, does wonders!! i'll try and post pics soon.
