im planning a new tank and was looking for some advice. I was originally thinking a 40 breeder but after seeing one at the lfs i just dont think its tall enough. I love the footprint but by the time you put in an inch or two of sand bed, theres just not much room left. The 50 breeder on the other hand seems to be the best of both worlds (for me at least). It has the same footprint, but is 3 inches taller.
My question about the 50 though is the center brace on the top. If im using t5's (a tek 4 or 6 bulb for the sake of the question), how dramatic of a shadow will the center brace cast on the middle of the tank? Also can i remove the black center brace and then use something like jb weld, or something similar, to put in my own clear center brace using plexiglass or something similar?
Im kind of thinking about a two island scape so having a shadow in the center may not be that big of a problem as long as its not super dramatic. I've searched to try and find pictures but it seems everyone else is doing 40 breeders. thanks for any info or suggestions.
