Lighitng: Elos Planet II 2 x 150w Radium HQI run about 3 hours a day and 4 x 39w T5s run 10 hours a day.

Filtration: KZ revolution S skimmer and a zeolite filter. I also run 100 micron socks and have about 100mL of carbon in a bag by the skimmer effluent. Pump is a Waveline DC 6000 and I have a 1/2hp chiller.

Dosing: Vertex Libra DC model, using BRS additives. Carbonate and magnesium are stirred with Hanna magnetic stirrers. I was toying around with getting a Ca reactor but I think i've decided against it for now.

I change 15 gallons a week with NSW.

Awesome little tank you have there. Look forward to following the progress:) how do you like the NSW for water changes? I'm using it on my tank and am interested in how the natural stuff is going for you:)

Dayayayng. Simplified yet meticulously thought out system.

Thank you, I had a 150 gallon for about 9 years. I really wanted something small that I could spoil. Also I planned and got equipment that can handle a much bigger volume. This way if I wanted a bigger tank, all I really need is a tank and stand.

I live in San Diego, California. Our water here is cold... usually around 65 degrees in the summer. I heat and aerate the water for about 24 hours before using it. I use RO/DI with Tropic Marin for years. A year ago, I made the switch and saw no difference in the water chemistry.

I upped the water changes to about 30% a week (it's easy when you have trash cans and the water is free) and the tank took off. Maybe it's the trace elements or NSW is just better, but within weeks I noticed substantially faster growth and color.

That is very interesting:) I'm saving a lot of money by using NSW so I can spend that money on new equipment and corals-it helps keep the hobby a little less expensive for me:D

Hopefully those flame angels behave! Nice looking tank

They don't behave. Neither does the burgess. I just love them to much to part with them. They nip and it impacts PE but growth and color seem to hold pretty well. The Burgess is on thin ice however, I have been trying really hard to propogate vargas cespitchularia and he's recently acquired a taste for that.

I feed 4 cubes of Hikari Mega Marine/algae/angel usually twice a day. It seems like the more I feed I 'jump start' their metabolism and they nip more. I've recently been using New Era Grazers and they seem to help keep the fish off the polyps.

Something else cool.... some handpicked stock from LAX importers when I went up monday

Brief update. I have been slowly removing my coarse gravel, it is a nutrient trap and seems to be making bubble algae go berserk on my rocks. I siphoned all but a thin layer, I may take it all out completely and run bare bottom.
