500 Gallon Build

Cold, Hot, whats the difference, the water is always about 78 degrees in the reef tank :p:lol:

In that last photo that brain is growing in a circular pattern, I can't say I have ever seen one grow quite like that. Thats pretty cool!

I belive it is actually a Pachyseris Coral wich is a SPS piece. Grows kind of like a monti but has not polyps.

Pretty crappy though, the nice elegance piece is pretty much all gone already. Just a little bit left. Guess the system is too clean for that. I treid feeding it but went downhill very fast. Left on Friday and all was good. Got back Sunday and a portion was gone and fish eating it, now by today just a little bit left.

That stinks...

Seems every tank has some sort of coral that doesn't do well in it.

For ours, our water is too clean to really keep Zoas... they were thriving when our water was dirty due to bad test kits... now being clean they are just dropping off...

:hammer:

Was it the angels hitting it?

Don't think so. Just afterwords now eating the dead stuff

FWIW, if it was an indo elegance those seem to be very very touchy, the aussie elegance seem to be about 2-3x hardier than the indo ones from our experience. I think the aussie vs indo elegance thing comes down to most the indo suppliers not having the advanced holding systems that the aussie suppliers do.

Might not have been your tanks clean water, might have just been heading south before you acquired it. Could have been your water too tho, who really knows. Sorry to hear about that one going south bro. On a brighter note at least the rest of your tank is looking phenomenal

Thanks I had an Aussie in my previous setup and it did just fine. Not sure what this one was. It sucks with the stuff I have lost but the big picture is mostly successful.

I may be crazy but I had to have it! Figured there was no better time then to add it now rather then later when it's too late when achilles is already in. Now I can QT both of them and introduce into the DT at the same time. Wish me luck getting him eating, healthy, and together with the achilles I have had for a little bit now! I suppose I coud QT them seperately if I sense it wont work.
