Yes I took close ups of algae this morning lol, really starting to see a lot of red now

The colour range of your lamps will have a significant effect on the types of algae that thrive on your filter's screen. That doesn't mean that the algae you are growing are any better or worse at removing nitrates, just that you shouldn't expect the kinds of turf algae that grow in your filter will necessarily be the same as in other's algal turf filters.

They are just $1 something for a 3 pack 2700k bulbs I got from Menards. I guess all that really matters is if it is keeping algae out of the tank, which it is!
