anybody ?
what should I be looking for in the plastic to know that it is safe . they are used as animal feeders so I would assume they are safe , but you know what they say about those who assume .
man I wish I could get the rc search feature to work . I would pay for the premium membership , but I heard it is still hit or miss.

Hi Yvette,
They were blue. The same ones that they sell at farm and fleet. Unless they have changed the description on the sales sheet, fish farming was one of the listed applications. They use a food grade plastic which is human safe. Typically when I am looking for something for the fish I look for human grade items. That is the safest bet.
If you are not one of those lucky enough to have gone to Harbor Aquatics it was an incredible place. It was run by Joy Meadows until June, 2004. It was originally her husbands business but he passed away. Joy continued to run it for a few years but it wasn't really what she wanted. She closed Harbor and moved on to other things.
She had live rock shipped in from a few places and cultured it under natural sunlight in a greenhouse. She had two rows of 1000 gallon stock tanks. I do not remember if she had eight or ten of them. Farthest from the pumps was where she put the newest rock. As time passed and new rock came in the rocks were moved toward the pumps. Rock that was sold was in the 2 tanks on each side closest to the pumps.
She also had another room where she raised clams under halides and rescued and aquacultured corals. She did not deal in anything harvested from the deep as far as corals were concerned. She had corals collected that washed up on the beach as frags following storms.
It was a really cool place that anyone that had visited surely misses.

As you have found out.. There are no concerns wit using the 500/1000 vats from Farm and fleet.
